VISA BULLETIN
If a family member or employer filed a petition on your behalf to receive an immigrant visa, depending on your country of origin and the category under which they applied you may have to wait for a visa.
If you have been notified you must wait for visa availability, you will need to review the visa bulletin monthly to see if a visa is available. On your I-130 or I-140 Receipt Notice you should see a box entitled “Priority Date”. This is your personal priority date. You will have to wait until your date is being processed and a visa is available for you to immigrate to the United States.
