If you are thinking about applying for Permanent Resident Status to reside in the United States full-time, you will first need to obtain a visa. Visa categories consist of the following:

Green Card through Family Members

You may obtain a green card through a family member who is a permanent resident or United States citizen.

A United States Citizen may submit a petition for a spouse, child, sibling or parent to obtain a visa.

A Lawful Permanent Resident may submit a petition for a spouse, or unmarried child.

Green Card Through Employer

Have an employer interested in hiring you and petitioning for your permanent residency? You may qualify if you fit into one of the following five employment based preferences:

Employment-Based Immigration: First Preference (EB-1), Second Preference (EB-2), Third Preference (EB-3), Fourth Preference (EB-4), Employment-Based Immigration: Fifth Preference (EB-5).
